30 Nov Add a touch of splendour to your dining room with an Aalto sideboard
Colours, patterns and accessories are all essential ingredients when trying to create and define a particular style in a dining room.
Shapes and images can conjure up memories or create impressions in our minds. They send a direct message to our brains, thus influencing the way we feel. It is for this reason that we believe furniture plays a very important role in determining how people feel when they enter your dining room. Therefore, special consideration should be given to every piece you decide to purchase. This is especially important when choosing furniture for your dining room as most people spend a lot of time there. Besides the basic pieces such as table and chairs, you could add a touch of luxury with one of our Aalto sideboards.
More than decoration
Sideboards are not just decorative pieces; they are also highly functional as they provide storage for dishes, glasses and linen. Depending on the side of the room, you could have more than one.
At AALTO Exclusive Furniture, we have created some exclusive designs; built with quality in mind. But if you are looking for something different, we can also offer you our bespoke furniture services. All you have to do is call us and one of our in-house designers will be there to help.
There are, however, some important considerations to bear in mind before you go sideboard hunting.
The right size
Two aspects are important when trying to determine the size of your sideboard: the size of the room and the number of items you want to store. Firstly, large dining rooms can accommodate more furniture. Therefore, it might be a good idea to purchase more than one sideboard.
Having two matching pieces can add more character and create balance in the room whilst also maximising the use of available space. If the room is small, consider a more compact alternative. Secondly, think about the objects you are going to store in your sideboard. This will determine whether you will need one that has drawers as well as shelves.
If you are planning to store cutlery, placemats and napkins, you will definitely need some drawers, but if you are planning to store taller items such as bottles or vases, then large compartments will be more suitable.
Open or closed
This will depend on whether you want to store items or display them. If you decide to go for the first option, then sideboards with wooden doors and drawers will be ideal. If on the other hand, you want to display some china or other objects, consider a sideboard with glass doors. Some of them have optional illuminated display shelving.
You could, of course, have a combination of features in one piece: wooden doors and drawers combined with some display shelves. If your dining room is small, consider also the space you will need to open doors. Some sideboards come with sliding doors and these could be more appropriate for reduced spaces.
Style and material
The material you choose should match the other furniture in your dining room. Whether it’s solid wood, polished chrome, stainless steel, etc., make sure you invest in quality pieces. High-end designs could be more costly but they will be highly durable and low maintenance.
The style will also depend on the overall décor and the theme of the room. Classic styles are timeless and can sometimes be combined with modern pieces to add a distinctive and more adventurous feel, whereas minimalist or industrial styles tend to be more rigid. Whatever style you decide to go for, here at Aalto we can help you make smart choices that will ensure you get beautifully crafted furniture that will stand the test of time. Your dining room will be awe-inspiring…a place where memories will be made and special moments will be shared.
